The dining room at Coachman's Golf Resort prides itself on serving gourmet specialties in an English country inn setting.   We are  proud to introduce our new Executive Chef Brian Barr. A native of McFarland, Wisconsin, Brian has been in the food and beverage industry for almost twelve years. 


Starting at the age of 16 working at a fast food restaurant. Upon graduating high
school in 2009, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and served 6 years in the reserves, all the
while cooking around Madison at local restaurants including Alt ’n Bach’s and 5100 Club. In
2015, Brian was Honorably Discharged from the USMC, and began working at the Edgewater
Hotel in Madison and really began to perfect his passion for cooking.

Chef Brian, using his leadership and management skills he learned in the military, was
promoted to Sous Chef of the Boathouse Bar and Grill outlet of the Edgewater where he and his
team saw the busiest summers on hotel record. After two successful years at the hotel, Brian
moved on to being the Sous Chef at Bonfyre American Grille, an equally busy restaurant on the
West side of Madison. After his tenure at Bonfyre, Brian took on to Harvest on the Madison
downtown square where he learned the skills of a farm to table and upscale fine dining
restaurant.

His most recent endeavor was being a Chef Instructor at Sur la Table, teaching
everyday home cooks everything from French Sauces to Italian Homemade Pasta.
Chef Brian is incredibly excited to be a part of this new chapter at Coachman’s. With
his fresh new perspective and intuitive ideas, he hopes to bring a new twist on the traditional
Wisconsin style supper club, New American cuisine with a little bit of Latin fusion to pay homage
to his Brazilian ancestry is only one of the goals in Brian’s plan for the restaurant.

"Passion and patience are two things every cook should have” is his personal mantra, and he always
emphasizes on tasting everything and caring about every element of the dish. Bringing in fresh
produce, fresh meats, and weekly farmer’s market specials, Chef Brian and his team can’t wait
to have you stop in!
